Golden milk

Golden milk is a great alternative to a coffee based latte. Rich in turmeric, which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, it tastes warm, slightly spicy and so delicious. Served hot or cold (I prefer. mine hot!), I absolutely love these before or after a workout, or in the evening to relax and unwind without caffeine to keep me up at night!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based: almond, oat, coconut, etc.)

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger (or 1/2 tsp freshly grated)

  • 1 pinch black pepper (enhances turmeric absorption)

  • 1–2 tsp honey or maple syrup (to taste)

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

  • Pinch of ground cardamom or nutmeg (optional, for warmth)

Instructions:

1. Heat the Milk:

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients.

2. Simmer Gently:

  • Whisk constantly until the milk is hot but not boiling (about 3–5 minutes). Allow the spices to infuse.

3. Strain (Optional):

  • For a smoother drink, strain through a fine mesh sieve, especially if using fresh ginger.

4. Serve Warm:

  • Pour into a mug and enjoy. Sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon on top if desired.

**Tip: Blend it briefly (with a milk frother or in a blender) for a frothy café-style finish.
